BJJ at your own pace.

Brazilian jiu-jitsu is a grappling martial art: you learn to control a partner, escape and build attacks without exchanging strikes. Technique, positioning and understanding positions are central to the practice.

At the Cercle, classes are organised by level so everyone can progress towards their goals. Whether you are stepping onto the mats for the first time, training for enjoyment or preparing for competition, you can find a setting suited to your journey.

Sessions take place at different times of day and continue during school holidays with a specific timetable. Choose your pace while following shared foundations from one class to the next.

Teaching at the Cercle

One team, a shared programme.

Thibaut OlivierBlack belt · 5th degree
Head of the BJJ section

The section is led by Thibaut Olivier. Teachers follow a shared technical programme to support your progress from one class to the next.

Coaches follow a technical programme throughout the year. It ensures continuity in learning, even when you change session or teacher.

Attendance tracking also helps follow students’ progress and take consistency into account for belt promotions.

Beyond classes

Club life centred on BJJ.

Classes, training and seminars keep the section active throughout the year. They offer opportunities to deepen your technique, meet other practitioners and discover new approaches to jiu-jitsu.

The Cercle organises seminars with its teachers and international guests. Past guests include Marcus Almeida “Buchecha”, Michael Langhi, Lucas Lepri and Keenan Cornelius.

These events complement regular training on the mats. Conditions and any member prices are specified for each seminar.

A history passed on

BJJ at the Cercle since 1995.

In 1995, Rickson Gracie taught his first seminar at Cercle Tissier. Under Christian Derval’s initiative, the Cercle’s first Brazilian jiu-jitsu classes took shape.

This history continues today through the teachers, students and generations of practitioners who meet on its mats.
